I recently had the opportunity to work in encaustic media at the Wormen's Caucus for Art San Diego annual artists' retreat in Julian, CA. I had wanted to work with encaustic for a long time as its results can be similar to the collage/layering techniques I love to use. (See The Studio Couch, below.)

The encaustic workshop was inspiringly led by Jamie Lyerly, WCA's incoming president. I would love to work in this medium but feel limited by the studio space it takes to work with heated wax.
